Award winning Slough RFC Youth section

Slough Rugby Club’s Frost sponsored youth section gathered on Sunday to celebrate the achievements of its members at the club’s annual awards ceremony. Minis and Juniors Chairman, Andrew Leighton- Pope, presided over the ceremony for what will be his final time as he is standing down after 12 years in the role.

All players from U7s to U17s received a medal. There were then three trophies awarded in each age group - Most improved Player, Coach’s Player and Player of the Season - before the overall Minis Player of the Season and Juniors Player of the Season trophies were presented. The Minis Player of the Season trophy, for age groups U7-12s, went to U11s player Charlie Spires, whilst U17s Robert Vater picked up the Junior U13-17s Player of the Season award.

Volunteers also received recognition at the ceremony with U15s coach Barry Dillon hailed as the Coach of the Year. Helen O’Hara collected the Colin Williams Cup after a season that saw her assist or cover most Minis age groups at some point. The Neville Trophy was awarded to the Young family for their unstinting support for the whole club over the years. It has been a challenging season for many age groups but the future looks bright with many new players in the lower age groups.
