In Full Regalia

The Coronation Weekend Saturday 6th - Monday 8th May promises to be filled with ceremonial and celebratory events, traditions and pageantry. Aside from the Coronation itself, the Coronation Big Lunch will see celebrations across the UK, from a simple cup of tea and cake with a neighbour to full regalia street parties. As people take to the streets, gardens, parks and community spaces to join the celebrations and mark this historic occasion, we look at ways to bring the regalia into your home with some Coronation magic in your décor.

The shops are already full of red, white and blue flags, balloons, party ware and bunting but if you are looking for a more lasting backdrop to the coronation and beyond there are plenty of ways you can incorporate sumptuous fabrics, rich jewel colours and textures and make your home fit for royalty!

Regal wallpaper options abound so make a feature wall or decorate your throne room using a quintessentially British design such as Graham and Brown’s Crowns and Coronets featuring striking black crowns and coronets from different periods in history on a fresh white background.

Velvet and damask add luxurious texture to soft furnishings and are ideal for sofas, curtains, throws and cushions in jewel colours of burgundy, purple, emerald and sapphire. For added opulence choose gold decorative accessories; ornaments, vases, mirrors and picture frames.

Lighting can really set the mood whether you choose paper starlights such as the Kings Coronation Lighting Bundle (a brilliant white 7-pointed star and 2 Limited Edition Union Jack Stars, boldly featuring the flag of the United Kingdom) or go for The Regal range designed by Elstead Lighting, inspired by royal regalia and imagery from British royal heritage.

Whatever you choose and whatever your budget, have fun on this historic occasion and celebrate with décor fit for a king!
