Spotlight on Beaconsfield - our estate agents view

Spotlight on Beaconsfield - our estate agents view. Two annual events reflect the cultural diversity that Beaconsfield embraces and celebrates. On May 10th each year Beaconsfield Old Town’s genteel Georgian facades mix in a time warp with music, laser lights, fairground rides and the accompanying aromas of diesel and hot dogs! It’s a centuries’ old tradition; just one day, but enough for local residents who, for the rest of the year, enjoy the array of cafes and restaurants offered by both Old and New Beaconsfield alike. More cultural entertainment arrives in June each year with the Chiltern Shakespeare Company’s festival. Set in acres of parkland, Hall Barn offers the perfect location for a picnic by the lake before open air performances. From fairground to festivals, commutability and excellent schools, Beaconsfield has a great deal to offer.

Tripadvisor lists 48 restaurants in Beaconsfield with inspiration from around the globe. The top 5 currently includes “No.5”, a locally owned, modern British eatery in the heart of Beaconsfield’s Old Town, The Cape, a quirky cafe with a South African twist in the new town and Prelibato, a Mediterranean deli, café and wine bar in Old Beaconsfield which serves beautiful authentic Tuscan food.

Close to Beaconsfield lie many towns and villages including Penn, Tylers Green, Seer Green, Jordans, Hedgerley, Hazlemere, Farnham Common, Winchmore Hill, Coleshill, Bourne End, Cookham and The Wooburns. Each has its own unique charm and personality. The sleepy village of Jordans boasts a wealth of history with its famous Mayflower Barn built using timbers from the "Mayflower” ship that carried the Pilgrim Fathers to the USA in 1620. Bourne End and Cookham delight with riverside walks and restaurants whilst Penn and Tylers Green and Farnham Common benefit from access to acres of ancient woods and parkland. Hedgerley, Coleshill and Wooburn Green are quintessentially English villages focussing on the village green, duck pond or cricket pitch with architectural styles ranging from brick and flint with ancient timbers to contemporary glass buildings.

Displaying all this in miniature is Bekonscot, the world’s oldest and original model village and railway. Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, Bekonscot offers a great day out with 1.5 acres of immaculate gardens, massive model railway and intricately detailed model buildings. Visitors can see England as it used to be and discover Beaconsfield’s heritage – there’s even a Frost office there! All profits go to charity with over £5.5m raised and over 15m visitors since 1929.

The Chilterns area is well-known for its picturesque countryside with rolling chalk hills and beech woods; a large part was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1965 and attracts visitors, cyclists, ramblers and dogwalkers. Film and TV location finders are drawn to the area by its beauty, historic architecture and by the studios located in Beaconsfield and nearby at Pinewood in Iver.

Beaconsfield residents reap the benefits of excellent schools and transport links that provide a quick commute into London, easy access to Heathrow and the motorway network. Those considering moving to the area will not be disappointed. On close inspection it offers an enviable lifestyle, just 25 minutes from London by train and in the heart of spectacular scenic countryside. It’s not surprising then that property comes at a premium. For more information about the area or to see our properties for sale or to let in this area please visit frostweb.co.uk. .
